Who can qualify

Eligibility requirements

  • Have the resources to make the applicable unrestricted gift and pay separate government charges. This is a contribution to the government, not an investment in a redeemable fund or a guaranteed-return product.
  • Demonstrate lawful, traceable funds and satisfy the government’s background, security and admissibility review. Wealth alone does not remove disqualifying immigration facts.
  • Qualify for lawful permanent residence under the implemented framework and have an available visa number in the category assigned by the authorities. Country chargeability and the Visa Bulletin remain relevant.
  • For a corporate filing, document the sponsoring entity, authorised signatory and intended beneficiary. Do not treat corporate sponsorship or later substitution as automatic permission for an individual to move or work.
  • Identify accompanying family accurately in the initial process. The portal describes spouses and unmarried children under 21, with separate per-person financial requirements and vetting.

Build the evidence

Prepare records that substantiate the relevant criteria. The final checklist depends on the applicant, route and filing authority.

  • Identity, nationality, civil-status and immigration-history documents for every person included, with translations where required.
  • An auditable source-and-path-of-funds schedule supported by tax, banking, business ownership, sale, inheritance or other relevant records.
  • For corporate sponsorship, corporate registration, ownership, authorised-signatory and funding evidence, and the documented relationship to the proposed beneficiary.
  • Complete answers to current I-140G questions and any further USCIS or consular request, including adverse immigration or criminal history rather than unexplained omissions.
  • Official payment confirmations and correspondence retained in a controlled application file. Verify payment instructions directly through government channels.

How to apply

  1. 01

    Check individual suitability first

Assess admissibility, nationality-related restrictions, source of wealth, family costs, U.S. tax consequences and the realistic visa-availability position with qualified advisers.

  2. 02

    Use the official registration channel

Register through trumpcard.gov and pay the applicable processing charge. Follow the government’s instructions; do not send a gift to an intermediary on the assumption that it secures a place.

  3. 03

    Complete the current I-140G process

After the official invitation, use the USCIS account and current form workflow. Supply the evidence requested and respond to vetting questions. Classification and eligibility are determined by the authorities.

  4. 04

Make the gift when officially instructed

The portal places the gift after successful vetting. Verify the amount, beneficiary bank details and the legal implications before transferring an irreversible contribution.

  5. 05

    Complete immigrant processing

Proceed with the required visa or other applicable residence-processing stage, interview and medical requirements. Permanent residence is obtained through the legally effective approval or admission, not merely by paying a fee or receiving petition acknowledgement.

After approval & family planning

  • Lawful permanent residence carries continuing immigration obligations. The Gold Card is not immediate U.S. citizenship and does not dispense with the separate naturalisation requirements.
  • The official portal states that U.S. permanent-resident taxation includes non-U.S. income. Obtain individual tax advice before becoming resident; do not borrow the unreleased Platinum Card’s promotional tax description.
  • For corporate arrangements, the portal specifies a 1% annual maintenance fee and 5% transfer fee. Replacement sponsorship is a government process requiring a new beneficiary assessment; it is not the sale of one person’s green card to another.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Gold Card only an announcement?

No. The official government portal is accepting applications and the I-140G collection has current OMB approval. Operational availability does not establish that a particular applicant can receive a visa immediately.

Is the price USD 5 million?

The current Gold Card terms are USD 1 million for an individual gift or USD 2 million for a corporate-sponsored principal, plus charges. USD 5 million relates to the separately advertised, unreleased Platinum Card.

Does paying bypass the EB visa queue?

No. The official portal expressly conditions permanent residence on availability. Review the assigned category, chargeability and current Visa Bulletin rather than relying on a promised number of weeks.

Is the gift returned like an investment?

It is described as an unrestricted gift, not redeemable investment capital. Do not assume a refund or commercial return. Obtain current written government terms and legal advice before payment.

Does the payment cover my whole family?

No. The official portal imposes an additional USD 1 million gift and USD 15,000 processing charge for each included spouse or eligible child. Other visa-related costs may apply.

Does this remove ordinary EB-1A or NIW options?

No. Those existing routes retain their own evidentiary requirements and can be evaluated separately. The Gold Card has also not repealed statutory EB-5.

Points to consider

  • Before any irreversible gift, obtain a current legal review of implementation, applicable court orders, admission restrictions and visa availability. This page does not assert an outcome of any pending challenge to the executive framework.
  • No citizenship, tax exemption, fixed processing time or approval is promised. Use official government payment channels only.
